your mistake straight away is getting a wireless mouse...waste of money, not worth it, crappy performance etc etc

Mic/Headphones = Logitech G35
Mouse = Anything made by Razor can't go wrong with a blackadder

Unfortunately I own currently,

1. A bluetooth mouth
2. An old microsoft wireless mouse.

Both are terrible for gaming, not only do they have low DPI (at least mid range cost wireless mice), but batteries dying/inteference can cause hitches. A high DPI wired mouse is usually the way to go for gaming as Smix said.

Buying a razer is like buying a european car - sure they look good and go alright, but they're about as reliable as a politician. With that said the imperator is a great mouse.

MX518 is probably your best bet for lower budget, then you could probably go either a G500 or a Sidewinder X8 (wireless), and if you're really wanting to splash out maybe a roccat pyra or something similar.

something that feels comfortable, isnt too big or small, and has a low response time

Dont buy at Ebay games or Dick Smith - way expensive. Try MSY, Centrecom, Fluidtek and the like for prices.
