Modern Wolfenstein Enemy Territory (2.74rc4)

Hello all. Cake here again.

Not sure how much of u are already aware of Wolfenstein Enemy Territory Legacy. Its a continuation of the development of WolfET.

Wolf ET is getting very old and there are no new versions. There are compatibility problems everywhere & that only getting worse. Lucky for us, Splash etc released teh source code. And even luckier still - development is continued by a bunch of dudess. They call it Wolfenstein Enemy Territory Legacy.

Its a replacement for ET.exe and a few other files. Its all modern shit that works on modern OSes. Its teh only way to fly if ur on mac / linux.

It worthwhile installing and keeping or eye on this cos eventually we probably all have to move to this.
There server version as well.

Its pretty cool they working on a new renderer that should let us have updated graphics & stuff with the right mods.

I think it would be worth trying this on a server, but that's up to the server admins.

Was thinking that as well but just need Br to change something's on the server code as we have a custom exe for the server

Not much action on this one. Meanwhile et:legacy has matured quite a bit, with lots of fixes.
The new renderer means that et uses the gpu for all the graphics computations instead of oldschool old opengl where cpu is used for almost all of this processing. This in turn translates to much smoother gameplay, where the cpu code concentrates on game mechanics and timing and sending/receiving game update packets. Also, not to forget, native widescreen resolution support; instead of native lcd resolution with the high fov fisheye effect.
OpenAl audio support also well underway. Raw high dpi mouse handling also coming.
Lets show the et:legacy some support and interest. There's still a loyal following of ET on OZ server and new players still arrive, as well as, old farts revisiting the golden multiplayer game.
