Hey guys I made a thread ages ago about making a new pc for myself but I just didn't have the spare cash....to splash. It's probably outdated now so,.....

Anyway, i'm looking to get a PC this weekend. I've got a mate to help me put it together.

All parts from MSY
I need a monitor as well.
Budget - $1500
Could you guys make up a system for me? and paste it here lul.
Any help/feedback/nerd arguments about parts is appreciated :~D

Spend the bulk on 3 parts in this order of priority - Vid card, CPU, ram. Mobo not that important. And dont go higher than 22" monitor.

Ill wait for a few system spec suggestions and then correct the noobs as usual

Its how i roll!

pc case gear is where its at bro

go with what rainy said, but i'm not a big fan of only 4GB ram with a quad core and anything over a 1GB card, so maybe get 6GB if you can budget it, and $400 is a high end graphics card, but it depends really on what you want it for.

6GB is pointless with that setup as its dual channel motherboard meaning that 2 sets of 2GB will perform best

Unless joke, ur thinkin of a X58 system which is triple channel memory (3x2GB) which is the older i7s (i7-950 n shit)
xo

CPU rofl...

Anyways the previous thread was well....derailed badly lol.

AMD used to be the better alternative to intel however with recent advances in dual/quad it is the other way around IMO in terms of performance, gaming and overclocking.

MOBO: Asus P7P55D-E-Pro ($195)
CPU: Core i5-650 (3.2GHz) (2x CPU) ($193)
RAM: 4G Kit ddr3 2000 Kingston T1 ($125)
GPU: 1GB GTX460 ASUS ($217)
PSU: Coolermaster GX Power (650W) ($109)
CASE: REALLY UP TO YOU

TOTAL: $839+CASE

Something slightly better and fresher would cost another $400-600 more.

i would consider buying an ssd if you can afford it, just for windows and any other proggies you use alot
Just remember SSD's are not as good as disk for large contiguous reads (like G-Train's midget pr0n collection).

In seriousness though, has anyone here actually got a SSD with their O/S on it? If so, how noticable is the diff?

SSDs really aren't worth the money. I was thinking about getting one but the cost was massive, still!

Went with a VelociRaptor instead. Mega fast and quiet. FTW.

We have heaps of machines with SSD primary drives at the office, massive difference, well worth the coin, and prices just keep coming down so its a win all round.
