And im no expert on PC but surley a system restore Wont get rid of a virues???? or am i wrong? cause i only know a little lol ๐Ÿ˜›

Really depends on the try of virus you have.

I wouldn’t say those messages are FAKE but just letting you know there is a problem / corruption somewhere. This is why a system restore would work in this case if you have it enabled (This will roll the computer back to before the file/s were changed). There may well be a virus on the computer which a system restore may not fix but with the information given so far from yourself theres not much else we can suggest.

Just do the system roll back yourself.

When your Dad walks in be like “hey dad im oarsome”

And he will probably shout you a prossie or something.

I have to agree with Kit & Thomo here , without a screenshot or an error code it sounds like system restore is your best bet.

Information on system restore can be found here ,

How to use system restore on Win XP

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306084

or

Troubleshooting steps for issues when you try to use the System Restore tool in Windows XP

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/302796

Sometimes rolling back a newly installed driver , windows update , or removing a newly installed program may fix your problem.

But malware /viruses tend to be the most common reason to attempt a rollback , but if a virus was present when your last restore point was created , then this may not resolve your problem.

download malware bytes , spybot search & destroy or hijack this.

They will all have to be updated before running a system scan from safe mode (with no networking ideally).

Only run one at a time with no other system scanners (such as an anti-virus) turned on (even in taskbar) as they will conflict with each other.

If all goes well , you will only have to run malware bytes.

Cheers & good Luck

I fixed that exact trojan virus on a PC a few weeks ago…. This program will remove the virus:

It’s a great program – VERY effective. I use it all the time to clean up random PCs it works very well. And FREE! ๐Ÿ™‚

OMFG your dad is a moron. You now have two solutions from a forum full of geeks, these solutions won’t in anyway harm, screw up, petrify, stupefy your computer and he wants to pay money to get someone to tell him the exact same stuff that is filled in this thread…I think I’d shoot myself.

At the same time, he’s probably thinking he doesn’t want to pay $200 for a technician to come in and have to wipe everything, based on his past experience with computers and thus he worry and perhaps ‘mild’ paranoia about taking advice from a forum or his son. I’m not backing up the decision he has made but I’m sure there is reason for it, I doubt it’s completely irrational. The stuff suggested here Kid you can just “do” and he wouldn’t have a clue anyhow whether it works or not.

I got sent a link to combofix last week , I felt it was a little too advanced for me without some more research , youtube does have instrutional videos about it from memory.

As promised I sent your question off to aaron badley and thankfully he has found time in between his golf commitments to come back with a response!

Hi there, i’m two times PGA tournament winner Aaron Baddeley!

I heard about your problem and think I can offer some help. You definately have a trojan there no question. The thing about trojan viruses is that they will attempt to destroy your machine. I know what that feels like – after making the cut in The Open Championship in 2001, I too suffered a form slump that lasted almost 2 years. Much like your computer, my father thought he knew how to fix me! However, similar to the (lack of) results you experienced, nothing he suggested seemed to work!

Obviously you need some professional advice in such a situation. I hope that your father is aware of me and my achievements and will listen to what I have to say when you show him this email. I will speak only of the methods that proved themselves to work for me, and since golf and computers are strangely similar, I am sure these techniques will yield positive results for you.

The main thing that I found was stopping me from regaining my form was due to poor weight distribution. Because I was so eager to excel in the game, I was putting too much weight on my left leg, in effect leaning forward too much. It was only on the fairways of brisbane in 2003 when this bad practice was pointed out to me through a chance encounter with the legendary Greg Norman. He taught me to roll my weight back and this would play a key role in me defeating my trojan virus and becoming a better golfer than ever before. I would suggest you also try rolling back the weight distribution of your computer. I guarantee results.

The other suggestion I have would be to use proper equipment and proper advice. Often, for example, I was selecting a 5 iron when a 7 iron would be more effective. Or in other circumstances, I was ignoring the words of my caddy and instead, stupidly, listening to the advice of my father. As a general rule, not just in this particular case, but more broadly for the rest of your life don’t listen to your father and instead listen to those who obviously have the answers. If they suggest a certain golf club, technique or even a computer program that they know will definately fix your problem, use it.

Finally, and this is is important, never pay for love.

Hope this helped, yours sincerely

Aaron Baddeley

Wise words from a wise man.
