Enhance your knowledge in new technology death. No-one is disputing about intel CPU’s, we all agreed that the intel E8400 or better is the CPU to pick.

The only disagreement is about SLi Vs Crossfire, I state again, your example was a quad SLi(4 GPU’s) Vs Crossfire(2 GPU’s) which is basically twice the grunt on the SLi side with only a 10%-20% better performance at twice the price as the Crossfire setup.

SLI vs Crossfire was where we started off with but you cant compare just the multi GPU setup alone…you need to compare its performance based on overall PACKAGE. Intel offers a better overall package than AMD at the moment; both on CPU overclocking and mutli GPU interface known as SLI.

The discussion about SLi Vs Crossfire is all about the GPU alone, you must assume all other components are the same and equal in performance otherwise whats the point of comparing the two different multi-GPU options?
I’m guessing you’ve never experience the wonderful world of product testing/quality control.

Again, embrace new technology as both intel and amd are capable of utilising SLi or Crossfire setups(TBH that technology has been on the market for quite a while already :p).

Your an inbecile full stop.

What are crap brands?

Acer, Dell, HP, Toshiba(low end models but of late theyve dropped the ball, funding cuts) and Sony Viao(not worth the money to pay for the brand + the exploding batteries).

What’s the ‘best’ brand of laptop? (cos I will be buying a laptop in the future, doesn’t have to be gaming quality)

Best so far I’ve experienced are Asus laptops(F-series) along with Levono(use to be IBM Thinkpad), Toshiba Portege range(top end).

Can you get a cracked version of vista like you can get for XP?

If you search long enough you’ll be able to find cracked version but be warned that most will contain those spyware crap. Also it takes a while to get updates with cracked versions now that Microsoft has implemented their authentication checking.

Anything I should know when i’m building/buying parts?

Unfortunately theres not much you can build on a laptop if thats what you mean. You simply buy a complete package unless youre looking towards a barebone and build on that.

That being said you are able to upgrade Ram, Hdds and some allow video card upgrades on laptops.

Ty.

Youre not welcome ๐Ÿ˜€

Motherboards until recently (and ive said that before) were designed to either run SLI or crossfire interface. The motherboards that allow the best of both of the worlds arent cheap and if youre going to get a super-duper-sizzling motherboard then there is no point in getting average of everything else. If you put a benchmark on one piece of hardware then stick with it with the other items. To an average Joe he still has to choose between Intel or AMD which means that he has to choose between SLI or Crossfire. Overall SLI technology is better than crossfire but you have to cough up the extra dough. Why do you think motherboard manufacturers want to incorporate SLI AND Crossfire technology into one? They knew Crossfire wasnt getting enough attention when nvidia introduced SLI and how well it worked overall in a PC package…this way they can get more customers… ching ching $$$.

Ive been trying to discuss the difference between SLI and crossfire from an overall pakcage point of view. I’m aware that now motherboards can feature both but they arent cheap and in terms of bluskys budget this is way too high up for him. So its either Intel+SLi or AMD+crossfire. From an overall perspective…..Intel+SLI is the winner…but this is my opinion.

You have your view on this matter and so do I but I think we can agree that to the average gamer and abit above, either SLI or Crossfire do their job right. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hey hey hey, I have both a Dell and a HP laptop and they are fine.
There is no good or bad brands really, each laptop is different. The only things that you really look for is build quality and the components going in and looks.
Don’t buy into the hype about which brands are better, look at the exact components you want and find the best in it’s class. No brand will have the best thing all the time for every component.
Stupid butz and his brand lovin’ ways.

Cheers

Well its really down to personal perception and experiences. To me the brand really corresponds to build quality and the internal components used.
I have supplied a majority of the brands available in Australia so I do know which are terrible in terms of RMA nightmares compared to the better ones.

All in all, no matter what brand there will always be a lemon amongst a batch. Just hope you dont score a $1000+ lemon or you’ll have fun dealing with manufacturers RMA process :S

I thought you did whitegoods not computer parts lol.
But good to know next time I need to build a computer who to get the inside scoop from ๐Ÿ˜›
I suppose it also comes down to what you use the things for, the HP is a tablet and it was one of the best on the market around the time I bought it and it does everything I want it to since it is a uni computer. The dell is a bit more powerful and runs et well enough for me so I’m happy with my choices ๐Ÿ™‚
Hope you get everything sorted out with no probs blusky, I feel sorry for the rest of us when you get a proper set up if you are currently lagging ๐Ÿ™

Cheers
