Hi All,

After reformatting my computer this weekend, I lost my settings/fix for widescreen mode (and everything else..)

So, I thought it’d be helpful for everyone if I post the solution here.. Incase anyone else ever has a simliar problem..

In console, type:
seta r_customWidth “1680”
seta r_customHeight “1050”
seta r_mode “-1”

This works well for 22inch wide screen monitors..

If anyone else has anyother fixes/suggestions for custom resolutions, please post! 😉

thanks that is helpful seeing that I have a 22″ as well, unfortunately my computer is too old so it would lag if I changed the resolution to that 🙁
Just wondering what does the “seta r_mode “-1″” do?

r_mode -1 Puts it on custom. 1-9 will do the default things of 640×480, 1280×1024 etc.

That’s for 1680×1050 resolution too. Basically, no matter what resolution you have, you can just sub the numbers in and it’ll run ET for you at full resolution. And all is sweet.

Switch
cheers for that!

If you want a nice widescreen ratio, then make sure your monitor is installed in windows (its not just using “default monitor” or “generic monitor”). Then see what resolutions are available to you. Certain monitors support different widescreen aspect ratio’s (there’s two aspect ratio’s for widescreen, your monitor could use one or the other or both, so check aye? :p).

Basically do as syere did, but make sure to check that the resolution your using is supported properly by your monitor. Otherwise you might end up losing part of the image 😀 (You probably wouldn’t notice the little bit clipped off, but theres no point in having the graphics card drawing something you can’t see).

Whoever said the pen is mightier than the sword obviously never encountered automatic weapons!
