Have you tryed lowering your GFX settings?

they are already pretty low from my cfg

but i put them to as low as they can possible go (took a guy called meadows cfg, who has like a computer from the stoneage, trust me, the graphics were shit) and i have a good comp, i can run crysis at High definition level graphics, so i assumed that it must be the server and not me ๐Ÿ˜€

fps still jumping in the area of 12-46

im comparing it with evry other server, i am stale at 125 fps… i even went to an american NQ server yesterday with 60 people playing i had a 320 ping, and still a stable 125 fps…its not my computer, im pretty sure, unless its soem setting that i need to change specific to your server, i cant really think whats wrong

as for system specs:

T9300 core 2 duo 2.5Ghz
3 gigs RAM
NVIDIA G-Force 8600M GT
My internet is ADSL2+ bout 512k

as i said, i can run crysis in HD, so unless your servers minimum system requirements are more than crysis :S

They are. You must have your 1337ness card inserted to play. They cost a few favours. To me or BR.

Hmmm. Check it’s in the right slot then. And the right way up. And that the arrow is pointing in.

I’ll go double-check your account details. BR probably didn’t uncheck the ‘Give FPS lag’ box.

would every other server you play on happen to be et pro? Because I have noticed i hold 125fps no problem on etpro servers, but on oz it goes down to 76 with a few players on, or full server it goes between 40-76.

If you don’t think this is the likely cause, then try exec your etpro config on oz, and see if it fixes.

i use one cfg for all servers…and as i said, all other servers are fine, except for oz…anyetpub server, any etpro server, any jaymod server, hell, even any NQ server which are usually the worst… its only oz where i get the lag

hmm.

Do you have your lagometer on? Have you checked that its not caused by weird connection spikes only to oz server?

Can you check that you have the most up to date graphics drivers? Out of date graphics drivers are a cause of quite a few problems. Maybe theres something in oz server thats causing some sort of leak due to a driver bug or something?

Also check that you’ve allocated memory properly for et, the defaults generally do work, but maybe if you give it more memory the fps might pick up?

If your not sure how to do this basically go into your config, and see if theres lines about com_hunkmegs, com_soundmegs and com_zonemegs. com_hunkmegs is the overall memory usage, com zone_megs is the amount allowed for textures, com_soundmegs the amount allowed for sounds ๐Ÿ˜€

On another forum it was recommended you set up following this:
Total ram in your pc: 256 512 1024
hunkmegs 128 256 256
soundmegs 32 64 128
zonemegs 32 64 128

I don’t think et will actually manage to use all this memory, but with the memory usage not capped down it should speed things up (theoretically).
Try it and see what happens. If you have more than 1gb I would just stay with the 1gb allocations.

ok now if someone could actually give us the code for adjusting these that would be nice we aren’t all rocket scientists and i’ll be the mug that asks for all the rest that don’t want to show there ignorance :ugeek:

Acehold (opinions are like me everyone should have one).

oh and actually how to go about it I’m too lazy today to google it ๐Ÿ˜†

Lol read the previous post the ‘codes’ are all there :p

com_hunkmegs
com_zonemegs
com_soundmegs

if you don’t have a special config file:
/seta com_hunkmegs (new value)
/seta com_zonemegs (new value)
/seta com_soundmegs (new value)
restart et

if you do have a special config: open your text editor, load up the config and change the lines to do with com_hunkmegs com_zonemegs and com_soundmegs. If they don’t exist then add them.
restart et (if its open)
