@BR I want a ‘gaming’ quality PC that can handle new games that are coming out and I have no idea how to build a PC :P.

You can easily pick one up for less than $1500 and that includes new monitor and all.

Just check www.msy.com.au website, if you have a little more cash go for intel box, if you’re short then go amd. Once you’ve found what you like print the price list and scope your local computer stores to see if they can match or beat it.

Your an inbecile full stop.

You can also pick up cheap machines atm with June/July sales all around Aus. Wow has some good prices going for gaming rigs and check out harvey norman, prices are fairly neat around 1500-1600 dollar can get you decent enough.

Pentium 3 (i think) 1.6GHz
On board sound + gfx card.

This is a big NO NO if youre playing any game. Onboard graphics cards use up your RAM which is also used for other things to run. Generally I would not advise that you have an onboard graphics card if you play games; This might be (one of) your problem(s).

I used to get these annoying lag spikes and it was to do with a combination of graphical and PB issues.

If you get graphical spikes during large areas and big fights then your graphics card, and even issues with data transfer, can be the problem. But if these lag spikes occur at intervals regardless of where you are then its most likely PB since data tranfering between you and the server is being interupted due to either the server itself or PB.

I never said buy a HP though XD but i never said don’t either i guess. I recommend asus or acer. Always had great outcomes from them. HP on the other hand.. usually overpriced with lower specs.

LOL it was a work lappy.

Specs
T2500 Dual Core @ 2GHz, Nvidia Quadro NVS 110M (256MB), 1GB Ram …and I still managed to whoop some candy a** lol.

I would upgrade your computer though. The specs of my current home computer (under my avatar) I paid $1200 for that around 6 months ago. Try http://www.msy.com.au/ they have good deals on parts…if you can put it together…which is easy these days.

I got no lag whatsoever last night and I haven’t changed a thing.

Blusky and I were getting the so-called “weird” lag at exactly the same times so I’m guessing he probably won’t need to do anything now because the problem appears to have gone away – at least for the time being.

btw, what computer do you have on your yacht, buttcheekz? 😎

Im getting lag issues all over the shop.

Specs: e8300dual core, 4 gig ddr800, 8800gtx – so it isnt the pc.

Mind you Im getting ET crashes as well, new instal of vista so nfi whats causing the issues. Those of you with a bit of nouse – www.forums.overclockers.com.au is the answer – help with issues, and 90 days after getting an account you can access the for sale section – buy and sell stuff as well.

Horus have you tried a fresh install of ET?? Make sure you are running it in XP SP2 compatiabiltiy mode and running as administrator. Also try using the lag free config and update PB that shud help a bit.

Kind Regards, BR

I agree. These days its all colour coded and any device you buy has a booklet/leaflet with instructions. The most important part is attaching your CPU to your motherboard BEFORE attaching the motherboard to the case. Most cases these days sit of the casing wall (on bolts) and putting pressure on the CPU casing and fan can be scary. Other than that its like putting together a lego technic set 😀

-The only system that I would recommed to run games on is XP since its the most stable one and one that can be tweaked with the most relative ease.
-PB should be updated but check that your patch is not newer than servers patch or you will find that issues occur(and vice-versa).
-People with dual/quad cores should try and disable CPUs (via Task Manager)so that only one is running the game. ET does seem to get buggered up with two (or more) CPUs running the game.

Alot of the issues relating to random “lag spikes” can be generally related to information being transfered between you/server/PB and PB in general not working properly on your machine. One of the ways that you can pinpoint the graphical issues being related to your hardware is the constant drop of FPS when alot of action or wide open spaces are on your screen, also some maps are dodgy.

Due to the GFC(Global Financial Crisis), ive had to downgrade to a Sea Ray 250 sundancer.
As for computers I’m running a few asus lappies, G71V, a M60Vp and a few N70Sv’s.

@horus, run winblows update and make sure you’ve updated your CPU’s firmware then run ET minimiser before playing the game so you can make ET run on 1core. You should also disable threading as I’ve heard that will fix lag issues.

Your an inbecile full stop.
