For anyone having issues with in-game mouse acceleration that is forced by WinXP internal registry bug here is sure fix that will help you aim better.
Step by step:
1) Download CPLMousefix ( http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/76 … e_Fix.html) but DO NOT run the registry file yet
2) ‘Control Panel’
3) Double click on ‘Mouse’
4) Click ‘Pointer Options’
5) Untick ‘Enhance pointer precision’, Apply and Close
6) Now extract the registry file from ‘Install Folder’ called ‘mouse_fix.reg’ to your desktop.
7) Double click that file and proceed with ‘yes’
8) Reboot/Restart your PC
9) If you want to revert the changed you have made there is an undo registry file within the downloaded file. Follow the instructions.
10) If you have any questions dont hesitate and ask away ๐
Good Luck ๐
This is only a fix for WinXP operating system. Run this at your own risk ๐ on other platforms

how does it improve aim?
When you try to aim left/right by default windows mouse acceleration takes over and it icnreases this movement. This was a broad problem recognised not only in ET but other FPS games (mainly all of them which ran on WinXP). Even if you unticked ‘enhance pointer precision’ winxp still takes over and accelerates the mouse movement. This causes undesireable left/right pointer movement that causes you to not be able to aim as effectively. For those who run vista there is similar help on whirlpool forums (try searching ‘mouse acceleration’).
You do not want undesireable cahnges in the pointer speed as you move your mouse left/right. THIS WILL help you get better at aiming.
Not always, I’ve played both with mouse acceleration on/off and have had no effect on my acc which is averaged around 38%.
Mouse accel is a mental thing, what you really need to muster is mouse sense. Once you get use to moving/aiming with a setting mouse accel is pretty much negligible.
Your an inbecile full stop.

Ask any pro player in any online FPS game and they will all suggest the same thing —> disable windows mouse acceleration.
Mouse sensitivity is a personal prefence and the effect of mouse acceleration could depend on the scroll speed but in any case you will be able to aim much better with that thing disabled. This is not just me saying it its broadly regarded as a nuisance.

Some pro players also play with inverted mouse settings so does that mean everyone should follow suit?
All I’m saying is that mouse accel is a mental thing, if you play long enough you can easily adjust.

Yeah afcourse you can adjust and its personal preference in the end. When you move that mouse you want to move it in relation to your hand movement, not some extra “force” acting upon the movement. It really does make the difference and you will learn better how to aim, aspecially in the extremes of combat situations and higher mouse sensitivity.
Hey do as you please but give it ago and see if this improves your aim…it will take some time to learn but give it ago. ๐
It helped me alot, aspecially when you strafe and want to follow that dot across where the had is moving…mouse accel just makes it bad when you go left/right and when you have to change the distance moved.
Rico uses mouse accel and loves it ๐ฎ
I hate it.
Rico still wins……

Mouse accel. can work well if you’re using a low sense..
But you have to know how fast to twitch to make it kick in or not.
I.e. low sense so you can headshot long distance really easy, but kick mouse accel. on (by moving the mouse quickly)and kill some one behind you.
It’s all preference.
