There have been many complaints about lag, I am trying to find exactly what is causing this however a lot of people that I have conversed with mostly have their com_hunkmegs at default which is 56.This is NOT enough for ETPUB. ETPUB requires atleast 128, however 256 is optimum, I will explain how to set it higher for those that cannot BECUASE you CAN NOT set it through the console it must be set this way.

To test what your current com_hunkmegs is type /com_hunkmegs into the console and it will respond with what your hunkmegs is currently set to.

1. Go to the directory of your wolfenstein Folder on most windows partitions by default it will be installed at

C:Program FilesWolfenstein - Enemy Territory

2. Then Right click the ET.exe file and choose -> create shortcut
3. Now go to the new shortcut created and right click on it and choose Properties.

Then you will see a window as follows

4. The Under the shortcut tab as seen in the image above there will be a target line, go the end of this line (after the ” ).
5. Then put a space after the last “
6. After the space you just entered put in

+set com_hunkmegs 256

It should look similar to this

7. After that you can also add in (if you would like to auto connect to oz each time you click the shortcut, after the 256 put another space and then as follows

+connect xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

(you do not have to add this bit in it is optional) (the xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx represents the ip)
8. Then Choose Apply then Ok
9. From now on use the shortcut to open et and your hunkmegs will be set at 256 and it will auto connect to oz server.

Kind Regards, Br – Hope this helps

Ok, well I am going to do a test running etpro mod at 4:00pm tonight and am going to see if the problem persists. This will be able to test weather it is the mod or the server connection or Punkbuster as we will test pb on and off during the test.

Kind Regards, BR

IMO It’s your PB settings. pb_walk or whatever the cvar is called is probably set way way too high and as such you’re probably checking if everyone is hacking every 3 seconds, literally. If you find what the cvar is called, just google it to find a good value (checking every minute is fine really) and use that.

Change your pbss settings too, assuming you guys use them ever.

It isn’t PB that lags everyone, it’s the default PB settings. See if you can steal a PB config off one of the good US pub servers. That is still alive.

Hey Admiral, I acutally disabled it entirely on our server the walking and the frequency so it doesn’t run at all. However it was just causing a lot of people “lag” problems. After the test of ETPro it was proven to show Punkbuster was the main cause. So we are lookign at using anti-pro now and wil have more information on this later.

when PB decided that running pba and pbb as services was a good idea ..that is when a free game turned to hell for single core player’s.running anything as a “service” is always sure 2 cause problems.
