So I’ve started to have some issues with game latency. Normally I’ll average a ping of 30/40 depending on the server however the last week I’ve been averaging a ping of 400+ across the board in various games. Last night every server I looked at had a ping of 1000+ for me. I physically cannot play in-game with this so I’m attempting to resolve it.
I think there is an issue with the exchange however Bigpond doesn’t seem to think so. There are no other applications/computers sucking up bandwidth while I’m in-game and yet the latency soars.
Ideas?
then you can whip out the secret wand and jab him with it from behind, when he leasts expects it.
Run a ping test on a server? Speedtest.net too? That’ll check if it is everything or TF2.
Pinging google and facebook I was getting 200+ just before, but speedtest.net to the brisbane optus server gives me 32 ms =S My speeds suck though.
I haven’t been getting anything similar, but maybe check the tf2 forums.
To eliminate software, reboot into safe mode with networking, ping servers, if back to normal, something on your HDD is the cause. If still the same, do tracert to see where the spike starts.
Cheers

I didnt track him.. my mouse got stuck
Also suggest stopping as many non essential processes as possible. Could be something as simple as a virus profile update happening in the background and you not noticing it? (noob has had that futz with his bandwidth before)
Test.

Bigpond rarely admits to network problems, generally things will ‘magically’ fix itself within 2 days if you’ve already tested your own network with no faults.
Your an inbecile full stop.

Yeah, turns out it was actually Bigpond routing us via Tijuana.

ROFL – you should have picked up some tequila while you had that little operation working.
Test.
