This has only become recent, but my internet has been slower than ever and im not capped, nowhere near.
The connection seems to drop out for very short periods of time regularly, therefore it takes me forever to open internet pages and sometimes it doesnt even do that. Even on et im lagging around, moving my player forward and it being put back every so often. If more information is required 2 help solve my problem then ask, but i really would like it fixed ๐
Cheers
Jared had this. he said it might have been a virus. or a trogan of some sort.

Reboot into “Safe mode with networking”. So press F8 during startup to get the boot options. If you are are still slow, its probably your net connection, call your isp, check your cables, if its back to normal, its something on your PC like virus/trojan/p2p etc.

I didnt track him.. my mouse got stuck
its probably your net connection, call your isp, check your cables
Yup mostly probably this… It could be a Exchange problem..
Other suggestions… try connect on a different computer see wether or not your getting lag on that one if not then its network problem…
a) your isp has messed up ya connection
b) damaged cables (Change them all if you can, ie ethernet, telephone)
c) your router is dying or dead.
d)VIRUS omg… Usually NEVER this (as Ive never had a probs with virus and networks but… IT CAN HAPPEN!)
e) reset ya router for 5 minutes.
f) go back to default factory settings
if none of them work.. I have more suggestions…
I usually can seem to fix most network problems.. just today had a major problem and my whole network was down until 5 minutes ago fixed it ๐ had to remove the Gigabit Switch and use a modem/router to route
the cables.
The gig switch doesn’t seem to like to pick up my pc on it anymore ๐
Connection Interrupted
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again.
i get that a lot, if it helps
thats using mozilla btw
the sht internet is on all pcs and laptops in my house
i’ll go ring up shtty telstra and see wats up
i gots the same probs bro
i reckon its just telstra, because almost everyone on telstra hag these issues around the same time (give or take a day)
If you wanted to be my friend you wouldnt say i have pooey pants
NickelKroegerBack or GTFO!
i rang telstra, and they said 2 delete cookies n sht
also my virus software might b effecting it….
i rekon they r a load of bs artists
as my nets much faster now after ive done nothing
WTF
Fair chance they were working on the exchange in your area. They would never admit they were the cause though, its always YOUR av/network/router/firewall etc.
kents!

do some ping tests.
what u get?
ping google.com or something report the result.
then do a trace and see how long its taking and if its stalling anywhere in particular.
then u can post ur dets on ur isp page and have them look at it.
but yeh if ur doing your virus and trojan checks, make sure u do it whilst safe mode too.
Firm but fair

hzd i had the same problem! omg must be telstra…
I’m serious tho same problem same time :O
Ping test something. WHILE your other bandwidth programs like MSN, Vent are running.
Now find and use a decent TCP/IP optimiser. Also set the max half-open connections on your computer to 500 instead of the default 10. I don’t remember the name of the program I used, but google will give you results easy as.
Ping test again now. With your programs open again. With luck, should be lower ping.
That goes for everyone. TCP/IP optimisers ftw. These are more basic things that make a difference in the long run though.
Also, don’t forget to defrag your hard drives ๐ http://www.mydefrag.com/index.html Particularly good apparently. Should move your Et files closer to the front of the disk so they’re read faster. Follow the instructions on the site.
Telstra are trying to implement the new fiber optic cable network … or w/e it is .. it is sleeker and faster anyway. And because of that as G said they “telstra” will not admit to any fault. And as a result all isp’s rely on telstra line’s and infrastructure in some way,we all will feel lack of speed in some way.

In Telstra’s wisdom, they also decided to change the way their DNS lookup works. Now, servers that you were getting 50ms on, you are now getting 100ms ๐ฟ
