much easier and hassle free way to update pb is to go the folder in your Wolf:ET folder called pb (for most people should be located here: C:Program FilesWolfenstein – Enemy Territorypb)

and double click pbweb.exe, this will open command prompt and update your pb to absoloute latest version released by pb in about 1-2 mins, without going to some website and downloading that program.

the program was designed to update punkbuster collectively if you have more than 1 punkbuster enabled game, which is fine, but if u only need to update ET, this is alot easier.

failing this, if you are still getting PB warnings about an old pb version, b4 it kicks you, open console and type: “pb_security 0” (without the “”) and this will allow you to play this session without pb worrying you about versions.

EDIT: if you run vista and havnt disabled UAC (user account control) which is that annoying thing that makes u confirm evrything you do as an administrator, (for instructions on how to disable pm me), then you must run pbweb.exe as an admin….to keep from having to repeat this evry time, go to its properties and under the compatibility tab check the box that says run as administrator.

Although pbweb might work, it is not punkbusters recommended way of setting up and therefore I would not recommend it to people. I suspect, should pbweb fail for whatever reason, the punkbuster people would tell you that you should be using PBSetup so I think it is best that we tell people to follow this way.
