That error can only be caused by a missing/tampered with dll file. So its either your windows installation, or your driver installations, pretty much all you can do, is update every single driver on your pc. If that dont work, you could try reinstalling windows, but i doubt that will fix it.

Unknown windows api function means, that it can’t find any application program interface (which are dll files) that contains the functionality for whatever call et/pb is making.

Oh and another solution If you dont use an ati gfx card, dual boot linux for playing et on :p

Sounds to me like while purging your ET folders, you killed a dll file (I’m thinking in etmain, because I’m thinking of your other problem here too). Reinstall.

Why do you use so many different names?

Admiral it’s not an et dll file thats the problem. You would get a different error message, probably something like ‘cgame.x86.dll is missing’ or something like that, plus it would show up in your et log files and you wouldn’t be able to start et. It won’t run if you don’t have its dll’s it checks for them on startup, i guess it could possibly be a corrupted mod one though, try deleting all your mod directories, see if that fixes. If you want, post up your log files for et and we can take a look at (see if theres some other problem), but I still reckon my diagnosis of either a windows dll or driver dll being either being out of date or corrupt is correct.
