Howdy gang,

been experiencing some Mic dramas recently. Thought it was my headset but after switching to a different one I have found no difference. Trolling through the various IT boards on the interwebs i’ve seen that a lot of people have experienced trouble with their front Realtek inbuilt mic/headphones ports.

Any suggestions on how I can get Realtek to recognise that there is a device plugged in and to get it to work?

Cheers,
Synonym.

Most front Sound ports are connected to the AC’97 port on you Mobo, due to havign AC’97 support. Take of the side panel and see if it is plugged in. Perhaps post up your motherboard model number. Also if you have an internal sound card instead of on board audio it may be possibly to hook it up through your sound card.

Not sure about the front ports but i’ve just configured it to an 8-channel sound set up instead of the 6-channel it previously was. Means that I just need to turn off desktop speakers when i’m playing but that’s fine.

Ahhh, If you set it to 2.1 and plugin your headset, I would assume that would fix it as well without having to worry about your speakers then.

You can try the following :

The issue is usually the Realtek audio driver application in your taskbar, just disable front audio jack detection before you use the front audio ports.

Be sure to restart the machine before use , MSY advised me of this sometime ago , my response was WTF , that does not make sense!

Resolve’s no sound through front audio jacks , does work though , go figure!

Cheers

Cheers i0n. Will attempt this if current set-up proves to be too difficult.
