This error is probably caused by as it says server connection timing out. Which could really mean its either the server or the client timing out. Do you lag out in any other games? In et do /cg_lagometer 1 in consol, watch just before you lag out, see if you have high amounts of packet loss or anything (red sections).

Sounds more like connection problems than game problems. Does your internet disconnect for a few seconds every half an hour or something like mine does? I get connection interrupted, but it typically comes back within two minutes.

mm, thats whats one of the three causes i was considering which is why I want him to tell me what he does to make it go again. 😀

Hmm. Do you use a router? Does the same thing happen on the other computers?

If a restart fixes it, I’m thinking it’s something on your laptop doing it. Can you access internet pages after it? Antivirus blocking ET perhaps? I’ve seen them do some weird things, like start blocking after half an hour or something.

He says he can still access internet fine when it happens, just not et. I reckon try driver updates, its usually the cause of most problems with et :p

Rotfl, yes. And you tell them to update and they say they have. And then three days later they say it’s fine, that someone else told them to update their drivers and they did and it’s working now. And you’re just like >.<

I personally would try to ping something and see the amount of packet loss as stated by lith.

click start then run. Type cmd and hit ok.

then type ‘ping www.google.com -n 100′

I would do this when your experiencing the issue.

And if your not running a firewall i suggest using one because other applications may be using bandwidth without ur knowledge.
