Well things you could try that aren’t likely to be very helpful:

Make sure you’ve patched to 2.60b
Use wireshark to find out if anything is hogging your net.
Ensure you have a stable connection to the server (easiest way is probably by ‘ping 60.234.73.180’ and check values are similar)
If your on wireless, move closer to the router.
Delete whatever file you were downloading from your c:/program files/enemy territory/etmain folder
Reinstall et

As I said the chances that any of this fixes it seems pretty unlikely to me, but I guess anythings worth a try aye? 😀

I joined the following server, Server Name-OZ-ETPUB *xpsave*
Server IP 60.234.73.180:27960, after waiting for it download and load the map, it comes up with an error “server disconnected for unknown reason” and takes me back to the main menu. Ive tried reconnecting so many times, but always came up with the same result.
Can anyone help me?

The problem looks like its more server side than anything else. Most of the time that happens is when the admins reboot the game box to load a new cfg or the server just crashed.

Next time you try to connect and that happens get onto splatterladder.com, find OZ server and see if its online or down.

Generally you can pretty much reconnect within the next 10mins or so.

Did some research before I killed XP and lost all the links. But basically:

Server disconnected for unknown reason occurs for one of three reasons: a) The server is using a mod that has no configured kick message and the user was kicked; b) The connection to the server was unexpectedly lost – server got turned off, internet cable exploded, admin killed server, etc; or c) which I think is your problem and mine – A connection to the server was initially made, However the connection was then lost for a minimum of 30 seconds to 1 minute – ET checks every 30 seconds by default and will kick you, so it all depends on your timing – and the player is removed by ET’s inbuilt server technology stuff.

Ping the server. Post up the results. Does your internet occasionally cut out like mine, every now and then, about one or two hours apart? And then it magically fixes itself back up within a minute or two?

If so, I don’t know how to fix your net, or mine. But you should just be able to reconnect again quickly.

I’m pretty sure 2.60 and 2.60b give one of the ‘Different game versions please update to the latest version’. I’m pretty sure 2.60b can play on 2.60 though. Actually, are there any 2.60 servers left? Or are they all 2.60b?

However, as thick as I am, I need someone to give me precise instructions on what to do and where to go and what to download, direct links would be good. Yes, I do have wireless internet, and I dont think I’m going to reinstall the game after so much shit my friend has gone through helping me download the necessary files and patches for this game. However, if it is essential to reinstall it, I may have to resort to this otherwise if anyone has any other alternatives please give a shout. Any method to smoothen out my internet connection would be great 😛

Basically I have no idea how to fix it. Normally I would’ve guessed that server connection settings weren’t optimal. But as Warhorse said he helped BR, I’m going to assume they are at the highest they can be.

Try going into the console and typing these, or making a file in notepad called autoexec.cfg and saving it in C:Program FilesWolfenstein – Enemy Territoryetmain.

And I can’t remember the last one. Maybe on GA7, go into the console (`) and type /players

Then, find the highest values on the list, and put them in.

so if highest rate is 25000, type /seta rate 25000, maxpackets is 30, type /seta cl_maxpackets 30

I haven’t checked lately to see what limit the numbers are, but for most of them, essentialy higher = better. It should improve your connection slightly, which will hopefully make it good enough that you won’t get disconnected.
