-blink- Because most server provider companies love when you do that.

Blame noob connection settings on the servers end. Have you set them to max BR? It’s more than probable that that’s the lag source. Typically, if the values are lower than mine, they’re wrong.

Cool, was worried for a second there that my eyes might be getting bad. Well, worse.

I reckon email is probably an easier bet. BR probably isn’t reading this post. Rename it to ‘ATTENTION BR’. See if that does anything.

Gamers Net NZ chooses to run pure server based machines for all our servers. There are no workstations, they are all Dual Core Opteron cores or Dual Core Xeon cores running on pure server machines.

All Linux servers are powered by AMD, utilising a 64 bit kernel.

All Windows servers are powered by Dell with Xeon or AMD processors, running Windows 2003 or 2008 Server.

took me bout 10 min looking over there site and faq to find it 😛

but im still saying they should go and use quads even to that et wont use any of the extra cores 🙁 maybe server will after u get it to work for linux but windows one is single threat

what we have is that et can run a 20 slot server fine on 1 core at a speed of 2.66 as u need a 800mhz one to run a 10 slot but ya having a 28 slot kinda gets close to the limit 😛 ow and lets not forget that the server aint fully using the single core it can run on

hence the lag issues the server aint able to process everything fast enough thus it skips it causing lag on the players end

Doesn’t mean a thing. Processor speed isn’t determined by its core speed rating.

Doesn’t make a dif, et is only compiled for 32bit so the game will be running in 32bit mode.

I played rtcw which uses the same game engine as et. The server i played on was a 24 slot server, and it was running on a pentium 2 mmx, It was in america and I was still in new zealand. Would that not make me somewhat near the end? The majority of lag i got was the constant difference in ping. I don’t think I ever got any lag from it that wasn’t my or the isp’s fault. The only lag i got was late at night when everyone on my street was on the net and our net was still really crappy (and this lag really didn’t happen that often, maybe twice a month?), and when the isp decided to route me across america and back… router restart fixed that one :p (don’t ask me how or why it fixed it, but it did :S). ET isn’t going to be running anywhere near the limits of that processor.

but the fact that our server is still kinda strange with the amount of data it logs it might not look much but u go and run a 28 slot server wich is full and log everything on a Pentium 2 the thing will fry in no time not only becouse the cables cant handle the traffic it wants to send over it but mah

ow and lucky we dont run bots when the server is full 😛 that would be so fun bots having no lag put them on uber settings and watch the server be empty in 5 min 🙂 and thus no lag 🙂

How about we blame it on whatever the problem is causing broke pure server 🙂 It works for me 🙂 And it should go away then when i strip the server down 🙂

they may (most probably will) be running more than one game server on the one server…so if you have a server that has some really big slot game servers running on it…then your game server is gonna suffer if the server cant cope with it
