My puter has developed a sulky habit. After I power it down it will not restart again for a couple of minutes no matter how many times I press the power button, but it will will restart eventually with no probs. 😕

Any ideas please … anyone ?

Power supply on the way out if nothing happens when you push the go button mate. If you hear beeps let us know what sequence as it could be mb/ram/vid

Might it just be the CPU overheating and maybe just requires a new fan on top of the CPU. Some have fans that give trouble while others have a giant heat sink which is generally trouble free. It may be worth unplugging everything, removing the side cover and gently sucking out the buildup of dust that gets in all the vents. 😕 😕

^^especially being in QLD.

The amount of machines ive brought back to life after a simple cleanout of all the blocked up fans and dust buildup around the ram modules is crazy.

If this is the cause, you would hear a sequence of beeps when you power up, if nothing happens at all, its definetely power-supply related.

The good news is the PSU is the cheapest component to replace…

If you are down the coast, ill chuck it in for ya, it only takes 10 minutes.

Sounds more like a overheating issue than anything else since it powers up eventually minutes later.

Try going to your local hardware store and get yourself a can of compressed air(should set you back a couple of bucks).
Open up your case and blast the heatsink, ram modules and add-on cards with the straw nossle.
Then get a small paint brush to brush off the excess dust on the fans and vaccum the build up on your PSU and it should be sweet to go.

If your computer is more than 5yrs old then maybe a quick thermal paste change on your CPU may be of great benefit.

Your an inbecile full stop.

lol – unfortunately they ripped up the tracks between Maryborough and Hervey Bay years ago. 😥
Didnt need an alarm clock as I lived next to the tracks and the 7am fuel train always woke me up. 😛

Didnt have a puter in the dem dark days Horus (like 20 years ago). 😥

Nah my PC sameo but it starts first time every day so I’ll just watch and see.

Got another one – I dl an IE8 update from MS now it takes 3 minutes to load IE8 when I turn on the PC whereas it used to start up straight away before the dl. I spent half an hour with a MS tech on the phone yesterday who tried to tell me this was normal. I said it wasnt b4 and that Firefox opens immediately. I also told her the when I check services running there are two iexplore.exe apps running with only 1 session open. Her solution was to uninstall IE8 and go back to IE7 – I said thx but no thx. 👿
