Hiyaz, so there are a few people at work that have what they call a book club, every 2nd Friday they bring a couple of books to work and put them in a box.
Those people in the book club grab a couple of books they want and take them home to read, once they have books they have all read they try to swap them with friends.
So this got me thinking, I read a lot of E-Books, so I was wondering if anyone else on the forums did too ?
I was thinking if there is anyone else interested/into reading E-Books lets start sharing them around in the “Moe’s Tavern Book Club”.
Here’s a few of the latest E-Books Ive read to kick things off and see if there is any interest ๐

Just a few randoms ones ov mine. No passwords as passwords suck. Lol.
The Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks.

American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis. (Way better than the film.)

The Satanic Bible by Anton LaVey. Obviously LaVeyan Satanism. More Modern form compared to the older more-Theistic practices. Was a decent read, but is mostly used to correct 13 year old kids who think Satanism is “cool.”

Also have a decent amount of Philosophical text. Mostly Existentialism/Nihilism (Nietzsche, Kierkegaard, etc) and Absurdism. Some (Post-)Surrealism and Postmodernism, too. If anyone wants that.
Mer.
Here a few of my own, mostly chosen at random, but whatever.
The Myth of Sisyphus, by Albert Camus.
A cornerstone of Absurdist philosophy, this essay examines the absurdity of existence and the fruitless pursuit of meaning in life, with reference to Classical mythology. It’s very interesting, even if you ultimately disagree with the conclusions drawn from it.

Faust, by Goethe.
One of the most important works in Western literature, read it. You should already be familiar with it, to some extent.

I Have No Mouth, And I Must Scream, by Harlan Ellison.
Wonderfully bleak post-apocalyptic short story. Seriously, its almost beautiful in its misanthropy and the sense of despair it generates. This one is rather short in length, so it shouldn’t’ be too difficult to read. There are a few spelling mistakes left in this copy though.

A Modest Proposal: For Preventing the Children of Poor People in Ireland from Being a Burden to Their Parents or Country, and for Making Them Beneficial to the Public by Jonathan Swift.
This is the quintessential satirical essay, written in 1729, it remains to this day one of the best examples of sustained irony in the written form.

The Sorrows of Young Werther, by Goethe
The first ’emo’ novel. This epistolary novel – that is a work written in the form of a correspondence – reportedly inspired a wave of copy-cat suicides in the early 19th century. Certainly worth a read in its own right, as well as out of historical interest.

I hope somebody actually takes the time to read one of these.
Kieth, would you recommend one of your Goethe novels as a related text for, say, belonging?

– Grug – An Insightful look at the world of “The Grug” the man the myth the legend!! and his life story
here is a brief insight.. Grug began his life as the top of a Burrawang tree that looks more like a Grass tree. Resembling a small, striped haystack with a face, he is fascinated by the world around him and solves everyday problems creatively and without fuss. When dancing instructions are too difficult to understand, Grug invents his own dance and calls it “The Grug”.
As u can well see it is riveting!
Ulti has hacked since the down of time, and he is still mad that nobody will be his friend.

To be fair, with enough effort, anything could be construed to link with the concept of belonging. I would say that Werther could function well as a related text, but read it yourself to decide whether it does.
