In order to the regular latest 2.60b Server patch http://www.splashdamage.com/content/wol … -barracks/ i noticed the high amout of version 2.55 running servers
in the Enemy Territory community.
Due the intolerable issues and bugs on servers running with this outdated 2.55 server i decided to try some reverse engineering on the baseline of the newest
server version 2.60b with the goal to allow older clients to connect to a 2.60b based server version(but shown as 2.55 version in game browser).
Turn OZ into a backwards-compatible server and you might get a few more players. All the cool kids – read *Evil* – are doing it/looking into it.
Plus, this way, I can install 2.55 to play on the newly revived *Evil*Beginners/*Evil*Box server and also play on OZ.
genious! gw admi
If you wanted to be my friend you wouldnt say i have pooey pants
NickelKroegerBack or GTFO!
However admiral, would that require all the clients to update to 2.60b as well… as majority are only on 2.6..
nonononono, complete opposite.
It will let clients running 2.55, 2.60 or 2.60b connect to your server. Thus bridging the 2.55/2.60b gap.
I thought everyone ran 2.60b now-a-days? Isn’t that the GA requirement for 3.2.6 ET Pro or something? Probably wrong version, but I could’ve sworn that AU had that too.
So basically you could just downgrade to 2.55 and you’d have more servers to play on – all of 2.55 and all the 2.55 compatible 2.60/b servers.

Ulti has hacked since the down of time, and he is still mad that nobody will be his friend.

+1 for the Simpsons quote.
Cheers
so didn’t realise you guys were 2.60.
2.60 –> 2.60b is an easy update though. And the patch would allow 2.55, 2.60 and 2.60b to play on your server.
Explains why last time I reinstalled ET and upgraded to 2.60b I had trouble finding your server. i don’t know if ip connecting let me in either. but i’ll go to 2.60 now and see what your server is like. check out this mysterious ‘lag’.
you can connect to the ip from 2.6b install
