These newer maps had many more routes between locations and places to go, making the maps much more varied and interesting. They might have had some drawbacks, what does’nt, but after years and years of playing the old Gold Rush, surely something needs to be done to make them more interesting?

As to encouraging spawn camping, even if these newer maps do, i fail to see how that would make any significant difference – no one seems to need any encouragement to spawn camp – it happens all the time anyway. If you don’t like spawn camping, don’t play ET. At least these maps gave people more ways to get out of spawn, thus making it more difficult to spawn camp, since there are more exits to cover – at least thats the case with small teams, and they are getting smaller and smaller these days.

Perhaps as a compromise the new versions of the maps could be put into the rotation along with the old versions so that players could make a choice? Is that possible?

I’ve been arguing for some time that once the truck gets stolen in the current Gold Rush it’s game over, and that’s a shame. 😥

Some of the best ET games I’ve ever played had Axis spawning near the truck depot after it gets stolen.

and the main reason is!!! it makes the map really really boring…
2 many newbs hiding in little holes amused by the pretty colours instead of doing what needs to be done.. coming out of spawn and dieing by my gun lolz..

but honestly Goldrush GA is fail…. SW Fueldump on a full pub = fail
the current version of maps are all fine..
P.S im all for the extra spawn of fueldump tho… but im pretty sure if you have that spawn at the axis base near the dump you have to have the cp spawn in the first phase…. which is just stupid.. any axis team with 1/2 a brain will take complete control of the 1st phase just with that spawn point alone…

I got a double goomba on the ladder in axis spawn once on goldy GA.
