I got muted for saying arse, an un-offensive description for a part of the human body, but ass is allowed.
Now, in the heat of the battle, which of these will a person playing ET use to try and offend another person. Keeping in mind that many of these people can not spell correctly and have never heard of the term “grammar”.

I say turn the filter off and just give a warning or disclosure. “This game is rated M +15 for mature audiences. It contains violence and may contain course language.”

You WILL be legally protected just in cause some really rich idiot tries anything and we can live on in peace. Almost all the time I’m on there is at least one person from Oz around so if someone is being excessivly abusive they can be told to tone it down or leave.

I hear what your saying guys, it would work well for those of you that do have some respect for others. However as you are no doubt aware the filter is not to catch out respectable players its in place to try and hold back the habitual abusers that frequent these online games. They dont care for OBJ’s or K/D’s etc all the fun they get is calling ppl names and creating a nuisance. Will keep looking into the filter for you and see if we can refine its operation.

there is another option do it via shrub to certain ppl of your choice that way if they mess up just revoke the priveleges just make a custom shrub level or add the flag to each person that way you still control who gets what

I agree with phat. I mentioned this before and the games rating is based for mature audience (17+)therefore any fowl language used within it is forseable and if parents are complaining about it then bad luck. You cannot control someones anger/rage/language (yes you can mute them for excessive agreesion/fowl language) but considering the games mature rating OZ server should at least reduce, or even remove, the fliter after 9pm when bed time for kids comes into affect. Bed time used to be 7pm for those who remember so be glad kids can stay up later lol.

Is the word ‘noob’? filtered? Im asking this because it is considered to be added to the official english dictionary as the 1 milionth word.

Remove the filter + kick/ban people that constantly abuse.

The game is for a mature audience anyway. You wont get parents trying to sue you, that’s just ridiculous. Who put ‘shut’ in the filter anyway? How stupid. Maybe I just want to say “F***” when matt murdoch is Rnading 🙁

its funny the only reason that is viable for the swear filter to even be in place is because most of the OZ members are 15yrs and younger?

if this is wrong why not take it out, you guys police swearing (and absolutely everything else) like a primary school anyway. It supposed to be a M15+ game anyway, perhaps ask OZ members parants permission to swear LOL. i thought that was funny.

Anyway theres really no point in having a swear filter, regardless of how you filter it people who read it will know what the four ****’s mean.

TBH if you just filter the obvious swear words only itll be bearable since admins/refs should be capable of kicking OTT offenders.

If you guys go overboard with the filtering you’ll end up with a server filled with muted players.

+1 for removal of filter as Original post say’s we (if not most of us are over 18) so can it, as we are mostly all mature and it is a +15 game ect yada yada … i think if you wanna swear coz someone owned u it is a good thing 🙂 hehe coz venting is good…just listen to me on vent one time 😛
