Well im here to entirely oppose you. In the last week since PB has been disabled I have experienced no lag spieks whatsoever with 200FPS solid and perfect lagometer. Put up a demo to show your “lag” ill put one up if you like it to prove I am not geting any lag. A lot of others have also mentioned since pB has been disabled there has been NO lag. SO if you could please show me your lag I can try and help you correct it.

but in all seriousness, I have specced you when you claim you have no lag and Lagometer is still showing the odd yellow spike.

When half the server says its laggy as, then a few peeps say “Oh, but im not lagging”, i spec them and sure enough, lotsa yellow in lagometer.

Whether its ignorance or naievety, i dont really care anymore. Just dont piss down my back and tell me its raining ffs.

Doesnt lagometer only show your own connection status not the person youre speccing?

In terms of pings fluctuating, blame that on etpubs anti-lag.

Hey br i think that you log in when its either early on in the day or late at night where most of the traffic has left. I have to agree with G train there is a wierd lag on the server. Thing is during the early hours its fine late hours fine. But when its peak traffic thats when it all go haywire. Its like a bell curve. Middle is like playinng crap as. Just an indication of this is the ping situation. Like say some times i have 55 ping but in a sec it goes up to like 90 100 then back down. This is whats causeing the main lag spikes and it happens randomly. You have to have playing with your stuff up to see your ping changing drastically aswell load up lago meter and ull see it there. But i have to agree with maybe the time that you join and demoed it was fine but gtrain and myself are on the server alot and would not just make up shit for the fun of it. Yes the lag has decreased a bit since pb got turned off but its still there and is random and persistant.

It is an odd problem. Is it the server itself or is it perhaps something to do with the config/install that is actually on the server?
Could it be the xp save thing in some way that produces random lag if there is a large database or something?
There has to be an explanation somewhere. Lets start narrowing down the variables here.

My lag problem was fixed when PB was disabled because of the constant spikes. I haven’t had any problems since then.

I find OZ laggy when it’s a full server but I don’t see it being that bad.

Xp save file is fairly small 1.2 mb or so yeah its large for a text file but logs get WAY BIGGER up to 200MB before they are dleted. Pheraps its osmething wrong with that?

Perhaps it might be to do with where you are situated G-Train, or even your ISP. Its either traffic/connection problem or your ISP. Try doing a ping test or better yet a ‘tracert’ in your windows command to the OZ server…it could well be one of the points in the data path that is screwing it up for you. I had that problem before.

im with g on this one at home and my girlfriends is both optus cable internet i get zero lagg when playing on either yet when i go to a friends who has telstra adsl i lagg like all hell whic suggests a couple things really either you server doesnt like telstra (most likely) as it didnt used to lagg on his adsl or the server is just under to much load at peak times with other games hosted on the same box

im with g on this one at home and my girlfriends is both optus cable internet i get zero lagg when playing on either yet when i go to a friends who has telstra adsl i lagg like all hell whic suggests a couple things really either you server doesnt like telstra (most likely) as it didnt used to lagg on his adsl or the server is just under to much load at peak times with other games hosted on the same box

Yeah major ISPs get overloaded these days with traffic at peak times. Could well be ISP and where the server is situated.

Back in my early days of gaming, I had the worst rig EVAR. Yet I still managed to play to the best as I could, with this lagfest going on, lol. So now, lag doesn’t really bother me, when it occurs. I simply ignore it, and keep focused on what I’m trying to do.
This is success. xD

theres something up with telstra, everyone i know who has telstra says they got slow net, which sucks mega wang, below ADSL one speeds.
