ET Crashing

casius

Member
It appears ET don,t like me anymore...The damn game keeps crashing and turning my comp off....I can play for say 3 minutes then poof!!Off goes the comp...
1.. I have reset restore point prior to prob to no avail..
2..Updated drivers to no avail..
3..re-installed the game in 32bit to no avail..

Any help would be appreciated..

Oh...when I downloaded ET there was another one ... WolfET_2_60b_custom. Anyone know if this is ok?

We think it may be hardware related.

(win7 - search event viewer in the searchy box)

You need to open up event viewer then windows logs > application and look for the ! Error entries, hopefully one of these will tell us what is going wrong/the cause.

Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected.

How did you fix it Cas ? Just curious.

At least your style of play doesn't include just being a total dick :)

Thanx for the postive feedback Joker/Baker....gotta love this place...hahahahah

It appears this game has probs with Radeon cards...go figure...I can install the old drivers and get fps back...but ping suffers...get ping back....fps suffers...FFS!!...mayhap I need to get an Nvidia card...Then I can enjoy killing U positive bastards again.....

BTW...the initial problem of crashing was heat...cleaned my beast out and no more issues with crashing...

My missus had a PC years back with a Radeon gc pre-installed and muggins was called on to fix stuff on it when it crashed, which happened with every Radeon driver upadate. Meanwhile my puter with a Nvidia card chugged along nicely. So, yeah ...

Yeah I can confirm Radeons and ET don't play nice, once you install relatively recent drivers. I can't remember exactly which version it was, there's another thread somewhere where I think I mentioned it. Same prob; crappy FPS. Fixed it by rolling back the driver installation.

Next card for me will be nVidia I reckon.

I'd say it's either a thermal shutdown or your PSU is overwhelmed and safety powering off. Do you hear an audible "click" before it does? This will be the PSU if not it's most likely a CPU or GPU thermal shutdown run a thermal monitor and check it out while gaming to help isolate the issue.

Hope you're back in action soon.

P.S OZ updates coming soon for the whole clan. :) Been in the chats time.

There is a setting that you can change to 0 to help with Radeons cards fps it is in one of the other posts

The correct setting is r_primitives 2
Btw you will also get issues with ET on new NVidia cards. I keep getting what looks like terrible tearing, only it's not normal tearing. Also on NVidia you need to set extension limit to 4844 (hex) in NVidia inspector third party program, otherwise the list of extensions in new cards is too long for ET to handle..so it can't use opengl extensions without it.
