ET and Windows 7

Looking for some advice please fellas.

Would like to move my ET installation from XP to Win 7 (64 bit)

Can I just copy all my Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory directory from XP to Win 7?
If so do I put it under the X86 directory on Win 7?

Or should I install from scratch?

Where can I get latest ET install?

When I have it set up do I have to run it in compatibility mode?

Any issues with pb?

Thanks for any advice.

Hi Matilda,
As far as I know, only win7 Pro? & definitely Ultimate have XP compatibility mode but I am already running 64 bit ultimate but I have had random crashes without warning!

I have made hardware updates etc I think that may be resolved now.

Ok,I recommend the following if you are doing a clean install of ET

ET ultimate installer http://etui.kashu.fr/ (I'm using 1.6 beta?) can't remember.

Reboot then install ET Starter Pro (Cheers to Skanky for this one!) It's a front end for ET,crashes stopped after I installed this but I upgraded my BIOS that same week so not sure which solved that problem.

http://www.pnd-funclan.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3 I'm running ver 0.95 I think.

Finally disable UAC (User Account Control) in win7 before you install & when in doubt REBOOT!!!

Cheers

Punkbuster runs fine, on Windows 7 and more importantly 64 bit (last time I had checked anyway). If you plan to reinstall, BACKUP your etkey file form your etmain directory. That will then save all your xp and shrubbot level on oz :).

Thanks, phatty! UAC off and fresh install plus copied over all directories and works with no problem. Cheers.
