Crowbar, formed in 1989 under the name "The Slugs", who then changed to Crowbar in 1990 by Kirk Windstein. Crowbar are one of the pioneer forces behind the Sludge Metal genre, alongside bands like Eyehategod, Grief and Corrosion of Conformity.

Sludge is characterized by their extremely slow, low-keyed and brooding songs. It basically combines Doom metal with some Hardcore influences, mainly in the vocal aspects.
