Azzab wrote what gaming computer is the best bang for your buck :)
and really, to be able to answer this question properly we will need:

budget?
intentions for use?
need hole system, monitor, mouse, keyboard, tower or just tower?
do you have preference for amd or intel?

$4299 gets you something like this: http://www.scorptec.com.au/system/101
$2699 gets you something like this: http://www.scorptec.com.au/system/135
$1069 gets you something like this: http://www.scorptec.com.au/system/126

you would be able to get the above spec pc's cheaper if you buy the parts from somewhere like http://www.msy.com.au/ and build yourself, they even build systems as well.

why would a person in the OZ community ever need anything over the $1069 computer...

do not use msy... family friend of ours let msy build their computer. about a month later the computer was done... first off all the parts inside the case were rattling around and the case was made out of some really weak metal . im not kidding you can bend it with your pinky

msy build shotty systems your best off to just buy the parts or from CPL

Cant really blame the builder for a dodgy, pov-pack case that the customer prolly chose because it looked pretty.
MSY is ok if you just want to buy parts and dont need to wade through their abortion of a website.
Id still goto Umart over MSY and Gamedude tbh, gamedude should change their name to wedontknowsh1tdude :<

Didn't you say not to buy top end yet you post this up? i7 980X maybe months old but the price certainly haven't dropped over 20% since release.

Try http://www.arc.com.au, one of the best sites I've seen with competitive prices through their "conditions apply"(Orders > $600) discounts.

MSY specialize in budget cases , don't sell any decent ones imo , but anyone doing a custom build should inspect what is being used before committing to a purchase ,
they will put in custom parts from other shops if you supply them though they do not guarantee those parts.

Always check the cable management inside the case after purchasing a system from MSY , I find they don't do a great job on that , probably due to time restrictions , otherwise you get what you pay for. :rnade:

Cheers

it was to show examples in different price ranges, being that topic starter has not specified any requirements i gave an example of top mid and low specs note: "EXAMPLE"

but off course once again you like to be an idiot and try and make arguments, cpu was only real top end part anyway but meh

Wouldn't that void the warranty?

You're so easy to troll but the OP did mention 'GAMING computer' that is "bang for buck" or were you reading something else?

They actually redid their website recently.

My most recent msy experience went like this....

noob: I want a 32gig SD card
MSY derp: wha?
noob: 32gig SD card, you gives it to me or DDoS
MSY derp: (after looking up SD card on pewter) oh hurrr, we dun do 32 gig SDs
noob: Aren't you selling the 32 gig SD behind your right shoulder?
MSY derp: ahurrrrr
noob: here is noob's monehs
MSY derp: derp you come again!

Lesson learned: only go to msy if you really know what you want. For customer service, look elsewhere.

They open the case in front of you to confirm all the parts you ordered are in it & they don't put any seals on the cases (void warranteh etc).
I have 2 complete systems from MSY here & one got sent back with a faulty BIOS & there was no issue with the cable management
(it's only when the internal parts don't match the invoice ,it may be an issue).

Very correct , if you want sales support , get there when it's empty or call when it's quiet, otherwise they expect you to know what your shopping for.

I've been there when it is dead quiet and the guys wont even help you work out what you need. A couple of times now.

msy is fine, but do your research before turning up.

You should call ahead & go to one of their smaller stores if you want good tech support , the best way to get that is to speak to a techy there & not the sales guy.

How do you do that? ask a very specific question about the electrical specification of something that is so involved he will go "um let me just go get someone".

ie , if I use this motherboard , that graphics card , but I want to run a raid 0 , can my existing PSU handle it?
of course you better have your PSU specs on hand or you'll look like an idiot. :p

You're better off emailing for help beforehand that way if their recommendations suck balls you can provide them with written evidence of their derps before exchanging/refunds.

Youre the one saying buy top end with what you can afford. If someone can afford 4K+ for a rig then obviously by your methodology they should buy it yet you still argue... you never seize to amaze me.

That motherboard is $400+ and the CPU is ~$1000 just for starters. The CPU was launched 1st quarter of 2010 and its top end stuff where not many people will buy it so really there is no suprise that it hasnt dropped down in price. In terms of base performance it hasnt really been outdone and that kinda CPU really goes well with other top end PC parts.

I got my PC parts from MSY. They wanted to charge me some 100-200 extra if they were to put it together...for that price I got myself a monitor. If youre going to go to MSY (from my experience) you need to know what you want - its like going to a petrol station; your not going to stand infront of the pumps and think what kind of petrol you should get. Ive seen situations where they were helpful and time where they didnt know how to help and were annoyed that the client didnt come here asking for what he/she wants.

Its fine for me to recommend a top spec system but for someone who claims that people who buy top end hardware is stupid and then link to a top spec system...

So how many "I am SPECIAL" awards have you amassed over the years?
